Starting a Blog

How To Write A Blog

When you start adding content on your blog, you must first establishing yourself as an expert in your field as quickly as possible, in order to get possible prospects to continue to read your blog. This will help you gain both recognition and respect from your readers almost immediately. If people establish right away that you are a trusted teacher of this subject, they will feel good about subscribing to your blog/site, or investing in your product or service.

Start your post with an interesting fact, this is a great technique to show your expertise. People love being provided with interesting data, but only if it is unique, startling, or even shocking.

You could start with an opening statements that begins with: “The startling truth about?” or “Everything you always wanted to know about _______.” Or “What they don’t want you to know.” Or even: “Finally there’s a better way to _______.”

Remember to give some of your valuable knowledge away for free, to get your prospects to opt-in to your contact form. Offer the customer something useful up front and they will label you as a legitimate source to go to for whatever your company may be offering.

Build a professional looking website with sound and informative content and you’ll have a source of expert information to direct customers to.

Engage your reader as quickly as possible. “Let me ask you a question?” Is a great opener. Or even tell your reader if they want their life to change, “It’s time for them to take action!”

Share an Anecdote or Quote: Anecdotes are quick stories that can make people laugh or immediately establish the main point of your post. A quote from a recognized authority or famous person can also work wonders when holding your readers’ attention, in those crucial opening seconds.

Producing a mental image in a reader’s mind is one of the most powerful things you can ever do as a writer. Engage their imagination is a powerful opening technique. Use words like “imagine,” “picture this,” “do you remember when,” etc.

Naturally the most important part of your blog post is your title. The title is what will get them to read your post. Think of your title as being a newspaper headline. How is a headline worded to get you to read it? “The true facts,” “Don’t gamble with your health,” “Don’t take chances with _______.”

Another means to drive traffic to your blog is article marketing. It’s another medium to achieve that expert status, because it gives you the ability to distribute a small number of articles to a huge number of content-rich sites. The more places your name displays, the more people will be exposed to your blog and product or service.

Another way to show your expertise is through online forums and blogs. This is a bit more casual than article writing. It allows you to remain in the first person and talk candidly with interested web surfers. The conversational tone used in such settings will put many potential customers at ease.

Not only will they view you as an expert, they’ll also feel connected to you as a real human being. Also, such places give customers the opportunity to ask questions and give you the opportunity to back up your product in the face of criticism.
Find the right places to gain recognition. Put yourself out there and command respect through that exposure. Highlight your achievements and successes. Branding yourself as an expert is all about getting other people to recognize something about you that you already know.
